Bill Whitney, beekeeper from City Bee Savers, proudly displays his knowledge and passion about bees and other pollinators at the "Get Your Garden Growin" Green Market in Glen Ellyn on Saturday, May 6th, 2017.
Eric and I had the opportunity to attend S.C.A.R.C.E.'s annual event Saturday, May 6th at their headquarters in Glen Ellyn, IL. Their space was chock full of local organizations selling native plants, trees, vegetables, herbs, compost, rain barrels, chickens, and honey. The event also included mini-workshops on composting and saving the bees that were incredibly informative.
We were instantly drawn into an impromptu lesson on all things bees by Bill Whitney, beekeeper from City Bee Savers. This organic bee-keeping business does everything from hive boxes to swarm relocation to honey to mentoring school programs. We can't wait to bring our students out to their Montessori school in Wheaton to check out how students are using bee hives in their learning. Check them out here: www.citybeesavers.com
S.C.A.R.C.E. continues to be an organization that is truly dedicated to its mission of inspiring people through environmental education. We can't wait to work with them again. Stay up to date on their workshops, events, and information here: www.scarce.org
