Seedlings in the Classroom

Along the south wall of Steve's classroom, students can observe our vegetables growing. Seedlings this year include multiple varieties of tomatoes, squash, pumpkin, arugula, sunflowers, green beans, marigolds, poblano and habanero peppers, cucumbers, basil, and cilantro. Steve's first period English students water them daily and our school "Green Team" will put them in the garden during May planting days.

This summer students will get to see their seeds go from classroom seedlings to beautiful vegetables and our 'Green Team Summer Series" will include pickling and preservation workshops with local chefs. A tangible result is a delicious way to develop an appreciation for the growing process and our students love delicious results.
