Picklin' & Jammin' at Gurrie
For the third year in a row, we had successful pickling and jam sessions in the Life Skills kitchen. Our Pam Jam session was once again led by Gurrie administrative assistant Pam Dlhy...she rocks! 28 students attended the event and we were able to make 30 jars of raspberry, strawberry, cherry, and blueberry jams! Delicious!
Our pickling session saw 20 students create their own cucumber, jalapeno, carrot and onion pickles with science teacher and Green Team sponsor Matt Eigel leading the charge. With paraprofessional Dan Walsen there to help, it was true team effort. I just had some pickled jalapenos with dinner last night and we love knowing the students are doing the same. Our concord grape vines and tomatoes are starting to produce, so stay tuned for our next garden-kitchen session!
